This is the day we recognize and celebrate the miraculous and inexplicable (from our human perspective) birth of Jesus Christ.

It’s easy to get swept away into the commercialization and brouhaha of the holiday. Fight that. Focus on the sole purpose for this day of celebration.

To reference what every good parent told us as children: it’s better to give than to receive. Well, it’s not some flippant aphorism or a casual saying to make you feel good. It’s true. We received the greatest gift we could ever imagine ~2000 years ago and it’s free if you ask for it.

Experience this day and every day on how you can give more and receive less. Not only is it the “right” thing to do, it’s our charge.

Have a very Merry Christmas.

I invite you to listen to the recitation of Luke 2:8-14 by no one other than Linus Van Pelt from Peanuts.
